Summer Flashback

I mentioned a few months ago about a trip we made to Utah with Mark's family. His brother, Sean, lives in Ogden and we all pitched in and reserved a waterslide park to have all to ourselves. It was AMAZING! There were no rules while we were there and we did forever long trains of people. Weston was running from one slide to the next and couldn't stop giggling. Needless to say, it will be a yearly trip now. Sean just sent me the pictures today and I can't possibly resist posting them. They pretty much speak for themselves so enjoy!

Project, Pumpkins, and Precious

We are loving this cold weather and hope it keeps coming! Here are some of our latest happenings:

I made Miss a blanket for her car seat. She's due any day now. I'm quite proud of myself since this was my first rag quilt!
Last night we painted pumpkins for FHE. Weston couldn't get enough! There's about six coats of every color of paint imaginable on his pumpkin. I made the mistake of offering glitter to Weston and his pumpkin ended up a little feminine. =) We just got him some black to make up for it!
Saydi got about two strokes in before she started eating the paint so I gave her a clean foam brush and my scouting magazine to play with while we continued with our painting.
I think they turned out pretty cute!
Saydi has really been up to stuff lately. She snuck into the garage and got herself some tomatoes that were in there ripening. She ended up eating about three before I realized that telling Weston not to get her more wasn't going to work since they had been moved to where Saydi could reach them on her own! She loves to eat them like apples. (Yes, they played outside in their jammies. It was our P-day - pajamas all day and pancakes for dinner.)
Her hair has a little natural curl to it and I'm really wishing it would grow out more so I could do something with it. I still think she's cute though. We call her Precious for a reason! =)
We took the front off her crib yesterday. She loved it and took a three hour nap yesterday hardly moving an inch! She went right to sleep last night as well and was safe when I checked on her.
Less then two hours later I checked on her before bed (even though we hadn't heard a peep from her) and she was sound asleep on her belly...on the floor! She was right in front of her changing table. Mark and I were laughing so hard. I ran to get the camera but when I came back she had woken up and was crawling away. I put her back in bed and as far as I know she didn't wake up again during the night. She may have slept on the floor for all I know though!
Weston is still not really letting me take many pictures of him - hence the lopsided post. He is as cute as ever though. My favorite thing ever that he did this week was when we went in our room to wake up Mark. The kids were crawling all over him and I left the room to go do something. Saydi followed me and Weston tucked Mark in and gave him a kiss on the forehead then left and shut the door! Cracks me up. He's all about repeating things and asking "what's that?" because he's Mr. Curious. I really love the ages my kids are at and it makes the sting of them growing up so fast more bearable.

Fall Fun

Today we took the kids to a pumpkin patch my sister told me about across from Tauphaus Park. Weston was beside himself. He just wanted to RUN everywhere. Except when a tiny little kitty cat came out and then he and Saydi both had total melt downs. Unfortunately, the inherited their mommy's dislike of pets. Anyway they had a great time and we enjoyed picking out pumpkins to paint later on in the week. We left there late in the afternoon so we stopped at McDonald's for lunch and the fun continued for them as they played in the play place. After we got home we all had a nap and then did yard work before Mark left for work. Pretty much the perfect day!
Weston and Saydi NEVER look at the camera at the same time. Grr.
Can you tell how much they liked this little train? Notice that any time we take a picture outside Wes is sporting his "gasses". I'm surprised he doesn't sleep with them.
Running through the pumpkin patch.

He was running through here so fast that this was the best picture I could get. I love that we are back in Idaho and our kids get to enjoy the fun of different seasons that we did growing up!

Funny

The kids were awfully quiet the other day and when I sought them out in Weston's room this is what I found. Saydi's lovely fit is nothing compared to the one Weston threw when I told him we had to pick up the mess. =)
This is Saydi's new thing she learned this week. We had been doing it before I turned on the camera - hence the immediate response before I ask the question.

Huh?

I am QUITE certain that when I dressed Weston this morning his shirt was on the right way. However, he woke up from his nap and I found it like this:
How is this possible? I sincerely don't think Weston has the capability of turning his own shirt around since he can't even take it off or put it on yet. I'm so confused...

Pictures

Oh how I love this baby girl. This is Sarah's baby, Harper, who will turn one in December! She puts the "ub" in "chub". I could gnaw on her thighs all day!
Saydi loved playing on the fort we had going on in my basement while Becky's boys were here. Especially when the other boys played on it. Brenon is in green and Bryce is in yellow.
Ty had a football game and Trev didn't want to go so I took him and my kids to Pizza Hut for dinner. He was such a good helper and mother hen. Love him.
Weston made this pumpkin windsock (with lots of help from mommy) and said, "Mama, I like it!" Here is the classic trying-not-to-smile face. After we put it outside when the wind would blow and make it move he would say, "Mama, I see the wind!"
Saydi is such a girl and LOVES shoes. She made me put her church shoes back on her last night after I got her in her jammies.
Wow. Not sure much of an explanation is needed here. She has crazy hair sometimes!
When Mark is home, he is the only person the kids want. This picture wasn't even when he first walked in the door. He had been home for a while but they were still clamoring for daddy's hugs.
Saydi has started to love playing with dolls and pushing them in her stroller.
Weston put on Tyrel's helmet one night after he got home from practice. Hilarious. He would run behind the love seat and all we could see was this helmet bobbing around behind it.
He occasionally lets me snag a picture. With the colder weather we're keeping his hair longer and it makes him look so old!

Milestones

I have a million pictures I want to post but more importantly, I want to post some of the things my kids are accomplishing and doing each day because they are things I want to remember. So here are the milestones for each of them:

Weston
He randomly was trying on hats at Target and had me hysterical laughing. He loves to make me laugh so he was jumping up and down because he was so excited that I was laughing so hard. Hence, the blurry picture that I nonetheless can not refrain from posting.

-Can count to five on his own and repeat all the numbers up to 10 after me.
-Can repeat the whole alphabet.
-Loves guns, balls, and cars. Definitely a boy!
-Takes such good care of Saydi and is good at sharing, even if he's a little picky about what exactly he does share.
-Loves coloring and can match up all of his colors and repeat them all after me, although he still doesn't always know what they all are by himself.
-Extremely independent! Always wants to do things by himself.
-Loves to play outside and ride in the car.
-Is so good at picking up.
-When he's downstairs watching a show he will turn off the DVD player, TV, and all the lights before coming upstairs.
-Learns quickly! It doesn't take too many times to teach him something new.
-Enjoys learning and growing and doing new things.
-Knows when we are driving by the temple and will always be on the lookout for it and point it out.
-Spends most of his day asking "Mama, what doing?" It drives Mark crazy when he's home because it is literally NON-STOP. "Dada, what doing?" Sometimes it does get extreme and I have to tell him no more but for the most part I love the way he says it and think it's pretty darn cute!

Saydi
Charging the camera and saying "cheese"

-Now has six teeth and is getting more I think.
-Started walking about a month ago and her crawling days are officially completely a thing of the past.
-Is LOUD! (Not sure where she gets it from.) She will yell when she's excited, trying to get your attention, or just plain mad. Even when she's just babbling she is LOUD.
-Loves to clap her hands when other people do.
-Will hold up one finger when I ask her how old she is.
-Anything brother does, she must do.
-Is off her pacifier and has been for a few weeks. Easy as pie. And she was very attached to it!
-Loves to play outside. Especially with Weston.
-Makes funny noises and scrunchy faces just to make us laugh. If everyone is laughing she will join in like she knows what's going on.
-Loves cheese just as much as Weston. Which is good because she hates milk as much as him too.
-Poses like crazy when I get the camera out and sometimes says "cheese" when I tell her to.
-Obeys mommy and daddy very well for a one year old!

They are getting so big and I can hardly believe we'll be celebrating Weston's third birthday and Saydi's introduction to nursery in just a month and a half! Where does the time go? I'm sure everyone feels this way about their kids - but I am in awe of the special spirits that my children have. They are so inherently good. They always have light in their eyes and make life so much better and fuller. We have our struggles and I get frustrated with them on a daily basis, but they are good kids and fight no more then I'm sure every other brother and sister do. I love them so much and am so grateful to have them in my life!

Post Updater

Some of my friends who recently made their blogs private kept a public blog to let people know when they update it and I decided to jump on that band wagon. =) So add the blog http://carlsonpostupdate.blogspot.com/ to your blog list and I will update that when I post on my private blog.

Random Fun

I had a couple pictures from before our trip I wanted to post. So here they are along with a couple new ones.

This is what Mark does when he puts Weston's pajamas on and the pants are long. He hates having to keep pull them up for him so he just takes care of it as soon as he puts them on. =) "Did I do that?"
I am ALWAYS on the other side of the camera so Becky took this picture of me with my cute baby girl.
Becky has her boys for the last week of spud harvest and I've been watching them while she goes to work. We've been having fun but Weston and Saydi have been having the most fun of all. They LOVE their cousins. Saydi and Trevor played underneath the pool today for a good 30 minutes.
And here is my attempt to take a picture of Weston playing underneath his wagon. He loves to look at pictures, but not to be IN them.
