Cord-less

I mentioned in a previous post that my camera cord is missing. When I lost my camera and posted about it, it was found a few days later. So, in the hopes that such luck will fall upon me with my cord I decided to try my luck by telling you all - MY CAMERA CORD IS LOST! I have some cute stuff on my camera that I really want to post but oh well I guess. You won't be hearing much from me until it is found. Here's to hoping...

Silly Kids

My kids are silly. I prefer the silliness over the rottenness (ahem, Saydi) so to help remind me of the cute things instead of the things that drive me crazy (like recently deciding to pull my hair when angry, ahem, Saydi) I thought I'd post some of these pictures from the last little while. Mark lost my cord for my camera so these are from my phone. Forgive the quality.

Weston made a train of toys this morning. He used the board that I keep in our sliding door during the summer so I can leave it open a crack throughout the night. You can spot the various pieces of Mr. Potato Head, some cups, and my favorite, the troll at the front. He has a great imagination and has also been building lots of forts lately.
Saydi carried her baby doll around all night last night and when it was time for bed I didn't dare take it from her so she slept with her baby all night. This morning was more of the same. Good luck prying that doll from her hands!
We were watching Weston's favorite movie, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs, downstairs the other morning and Weston decided to help himself to his own little seat. =)
Mark put Saydi's pajama pants on her head and I thought she'd rip them off but she loved it! She kept moving her head back and forth so that the legs would whip around. She can be a serious ham when she wants to.
But she can also be rotten.
Good thing kids are cute for so long. It's to help moms get through all the fits, I'm sure!

The Morons In My Life (Oxy, That Is)

A new year always provides an opportunity for reflection. So do three sleepless nights spent with a feverish baby girl. And those reflections have led me to realize how full of oxymorons my life is.

*oxymoron - a figure of speech by which a locution produces an incongruous, seemingly self-contradictory effect.

1. Saydi coming to me and telling me she wants a new bum and making her own way to her changing table, after which being placed upon she starts squirming, writhing, and yelling repeatedly, "No!" while I change it for her.

2. A husband who needs to go to bed early at night (or sleep during the day depending on the rotation) because he has to work for 12 hours. Husband then going to said place of "work" and sleeping while there. Huh?

3. Laundry. 'Nuff said.

4. Needing to get good rest at night to help my body make this little bug grow and be healthy, yet waking up a minimum of 3-4 times to relieve bladder of contents that is being pushed on by the little guy.

5. Cleaning my house every night in order for the kids to have a fresh slate to dirty up the next day. I realize it's not totally pointless, but feels contradictory nonetheless.

6. Taking two small children to church to teach them reverence and respect. Getting to church and having them dump their cheerios in the middle of the aisle, fight with each other, and otherwise wreak havoc upon the surrounding benches of churchgoers.

Perhaps some of this oxymorons will sort themselves out throughout the year. Others, however, are here to stay. Like laundry. Ugh.
